Next to projects and assignments made within my study I got the opportunity to do some assignments not related to studying. All of them are related to graphic design. For me it was important that the client would be satisfied with the made designs. Also I found it important to stay close to myself.

Information for new employees

At my work (weekend job at Action) I was asked if I could make some information video’s. New employees of the store would have to watch these video’s before starting their first day at work. In this way, new employees know what will happen and it will cost less time to help them around in the beginning. I got complete freedom to work this out in a way that I found best. I choose to film the material in store and add voice-overs afterwards. This would make the text the easiest to understand. With the design I tried to stick as close as possible to the style of Action themselves. My store was very content with the video’s and now they are used within the whole rayon.

Graaf Obstacle Run

The Graaf Obstacle Run is a yearly held obstacle run in Lochem, Gelderland. For 2023’s edition the organisation was searching for people who would want to make PR materials, like posters, flyers and a T-shirt for the runners. I presented myself and have made a variety of PR materials. They already had a style which they wanted to keep. With a few little updates this style was ready to be used again. Because of my work for the 2023’s edition I was asked to continue with the PR from the 2024’s edition onwards. Now I have become the driving force of the new PR workgroup.

Drum band Graaf Otto Groep

The ‘’Graaf Otto Groep’’ is a scouting association in Lochem, Gelderland. The ‘’Graaf Otto Band’’ is the scouting drum band, an element of the association. They were looking for a new logo fitting with their band. For the design I kept the current design of the ‘’Graaf Otto Groep’’ in mind. Because the drum band is part of the bigger group, I wanted the two logo’s to match. Next to this, a scouting association is recognized by the use of a Fleur-de-lis in the logo. Therefore, this in integrated in the centre of the drum. The blue and yellow colours are derived from the logo of the ‘’Graaf Otto Groep’’ to create unity.

Shack "De Kolenberg"

Shack ‘’De Kolenberg’’ is a group of friends living in Haarlo, Gelderland. The group of friends realised a own shack – a well-known phenomenon in the eastern part of the Netherlands. When they were ready they only needed a name and logo for their shack. The name is derived from the house name of the house where the shack is located, namely ‘’De Kolenberg’’. I got questioned if it would be possible to design a fitting logo and so I did. On the logo the mountain is the central point, which is derived from the name of the shack. Next to that I added a house with two beerpulls. This also tells that they drink more than only cola. By keeping the colours simple – only black and white – the logo stands out from a distance. The group was satisfied with the new logo and printed among other things stickers and jackets.

Welcome in the neighbourhood

This sign is designed for ‘’Haarloseveld’’, a neighbourhood in Haarlo, Gelderland. They were welcoming new neighbours and wanted to decorate the house for a warm welcome. The old signs were due for replacement, so I got the question to design a new one. I choose for a loose drawing style, so the sign would give the feeling of a warm welcome. Also the colours are adapted to match this style. These are soft and pastel to contribute to the warm feeling.
